POP3 Endpoint Target

POP3 is a standard email retrieval protocol. POP3 provides download and delete operations for messages in an inbox.

POP3 Endpoint targets require Email Credentials account keys and are used with Email workflow activities.

Creating POP3 Endpoint Targets

Perform the following steps to create the target:

  1. In the left navigation menu, click Targets.

  2. Click New Target.

  3. From the Target Type drop-down list, choose POP3 Endpoint.

  4. Enter a unique display name for the target in the Display Name field and a brief description in the Description field.

  5. In the Account Keys area, choose an existing account key or choose Add New to add a new account key from the Default Account Keys drop-down list. For more information, see the Email Credentials Help topic.

  6. In the POP3 area, enter the following information:

    • POP3 Server - Enter the name of the email server that relays email to the mailbox.
    • POP3 Port - Enter the port number or use the up and down arrows to select the port number for the POP3 server. The default port is 110.
    • Protocol - This field shows the email protocol used by the email server.
    • TLS Authentication Enabled - Check the check box to use TLS for the authorization of the Email server.
    • Ignore Certificate Errors - Check the check box to ignore any errors related to the certificate.
  7. Click Submit to add and save the target.

Using POP3 Targets for Gmail Accounts

You can create a POP3 target to retrieve emails from Gmail. To send emails from Gmail, you must configure an SMTP Target.

To create an IMAP target, you must first enable App Passwords in the Security settings of your Gmail account and configure an Email Credentials account key.

To configure a POP3 Endpoint target to use Gmail:

  1. Create a new Email Credentials account key with the Gmail App Password. For more information, see the Email Credentials Help topic.

    Note: If you use multi-factor authentication with Gmail, ensure that you follow the instructions to App Password in the Sign in with App Passwords article on Google Account Help.

  2. In the left navigation menu, click Targets.

  3. Click New Target.

  4. From the Target Type drop-down list, choose POP3 Endpoint.

  5. Enter a unique Display Name and a brief Description.

  6. Under Account Keys, click the No Account Keys drop-down list and choose False.

  7. Click the Default Account Keys drop-down list and choose the new Gmail account key you created.

    If you have not created an account key to use with Gmail, you can also choose Add New and enter the account key details.

  8. Under POP3, enter the following values:
    • POP Server: pop.gmail.com
    • SMTP Port: 995
